Students will develop research skills, be able to analyse texts, pose questions, give explanations and justify conclusions. For Year Nine students, the particular theme that will be emphasised is the character of godliness: Throughout all units of study there will be an emphasis on what kinds of behaviour result from Christianity, what attitudes develop as a result of a Christian World View and the process by which these character qualities develop: There will also be numerous examples given from both within the Bible and without that illustrate the nature and effect of Christian character. For Year Ten students, the particular theme that will be emphasised is the process of salvation. Throughout all units of study there will be an emphasis on the ways in which God intervenes in human affairs and the restoration that He brings: The necessary context for this discussion must also include God’s intent and plan, the nature and consequences of the Fall and the nature and effect of sin.For Year Eleven students, the particular theme that will be emphasised is the notion that God reveals himself – in the Bible, throughout history and through the person of Jesus. In Year Twelve, students will engage with the notion that God is in control: God is sovereign over history, human civilisations and enterprises and, ultimately, sovereign over our lives individually.Christian Studies is a compulsory subject at Toowoomba Christian College and, as such, is undertaken by all students.
