Senior High Hospitality is one of three food production and/or service subjects offered in conjunction with the Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE to Year Eleven and Twelve students. Students enrolled in this course will be working towards a Certificate II in Hospitality SIT20207.

Certificate II in Hospitality SIT20207 is suggested for students who wish to undertake training within a ‘Front of House’ context and is specifically orientated to Food and Beverage service. Students who gain this qualification are able to perform roles such as:

Serving food and beverage to tables
Preparing and serving drinks at a bar
Providing reception or front desk services
Providing assistance in a catering operation

Hospitality students will be required to participate in after-hours activities. To gain the full certificate they must complete twelve service periods during the 2 year cycle. Students are encouraged to adopt a service attitude through participation in a range of hospitality events, including the Easterfest VIP Tent.

Assessment in Senior High Hospitality is competency-based. Students’ assessment in Hospitality, therefore, will not count towards their Grade-Point Average.

Senior High Hospitality runs on a 2-year cycle with a combined class of Year Eleven and Year Twelve students.
