Primary Academics

Year 2 in the classroom

At Toowoomba Christian College, Primary School students are encouraged to do their personal best in everything that they do; that is, to use the gifts and talents that they have been given to achieve to their full potential. Dedicated teachers follow the latest curriculum to ensure a program is taught which is underpinned by academic excellence.

Our curriculum offers the following subjects which are taught by dedicated Christian teachers:

•    Literacy
•    Numeracy
•    Studies of Society and Environment
•    Science
•    Physical Education
•    Class Music
•    Information Technology
•    Drama

At TCC Primary, we strongly believe in partnering with parents in the education of their children. Our Learning Support teachers provides individual and small group intervention for students who require extra assistance. In addition to this, Tuesday Help is offered to all students in Years 3 - 7 who feel that they could benefit from extra assistance.

Teachers use the latest technology to ensure that learning opportunities are presented in a captivating way.

As part of our Primary Maths program we provide every student in Years 1 - 7 with access to Mathletics, a web-based learning program which integrates home and school learning via the internet. Students are also provided with access to  Spellodrome, an online spelling tool which allows them to practise their spelling skills and strategies in a fun and interactive way.

At TCC Primary we have a wonderful culture of reading.  All students in Years 4-7 participate in the Accelerated Reader Program.  Once students have read a book in their goal range they complete a quiz on that book.  As the students progress through the program they are given certificates for their achievements and if they make their goal by the end of term they can be part of an Accelerated Reader Sausage Sizzle.
